Milton vs. Roswell: The Backyard Brawl

Jackson Thacker, Sports Writer

Scouting Report: Roswell

On the offensive side Roswell has many explosive players including quarterback Ethan Roberts and running back Nnamdi Orjioke. Ethan Roberts has already put up plenty of passing yards this year, while Orijioke has no trouble finding the endzone. Milton will need to stop the Hornets’ run game this week to beat Roswell.

On defense, Roswell has racked up the tackles with 72 total, including five sacks. Roswell allows an average of 6.5 points a game on defense, while the offense averages well over the 30 mark.

Scouting Report Milton:

After dropping the last two games, Milton is hungry for a win, and it could not come at a better time. After losing to Roswell at home last year in a thriller, Milton will look to leave everything on the field Friday night. Against JSerra, Milton failed to score in the second half, which is something that has not happened all year. The Eagles need to get out to the same hot start but finish the game better this time around.

The running game has been stellar this year, and leading it is senior Ahmad Junearick coming in with 41 carries, 279 yards, and four touchdowns. Milton’s passing game has gotten better over the past two games as the new quarterbacks have settled in. Expect the receivers, led by senior Will Stax and senior Jake Walter to really tear up Roswell’s secondary.

The defense has been hitting their mark in the past games forcing 50 tackles, six sacks, and an interception. The defensive line will need to force Ethan Roberts into some uncomfortable situations, because he is a quality pocket passer that can pick apart Milton’s secondary if they do not get some pressure on him. As of now, Milton is only letting up 14 points per game against teams.

Final Verdict:

Roswell is a good team, but they are not on Milton’s level yet. Due to last year’s disappointing loss, Milton will come out more inspired and ready to play the hornets, which will result in a convincing win.

Score Prediction:

Milton 34 Roswell 17
