Milton’s Beta Club attends Betacon

On Friday, January 25, 16 members of Milton’s Beta Club went to the Beta Convention, or BetaCon, in Savannah, GA. BetaCon is a yearly event where Beta Club students meet other students from around the state and compete for awards.


Much of the students’ time was spent in the Convention Center, where they competed. Students were able to compete in individual, team or club events , which include-

Harshini Vummadi, a Milton junior, has been in Beta Club since her sophomore year. “I personally enjoyed walking through the city [Savannah] the most, there was a lot of things to see and do,” she says. The convention center is on an island, and Vummadi says that she “had fun riding the ferry [there].”


“My favorite part about BetaCon was exploring Savannah with my friends and seeing the talents of other students.” says fellow Milton junior Shreya Kumar. Kumar won second place in the Math Competition and third place in the Performing Arts-Dance competition at the final ceremony. Two other Milton students won awards- junior Nicole Lin for Art and junior Alexandra Salyer for Creative Writing.
