Milton Winterguard’s successful 2018 season!

Milton’s award-winning winterguard had an incredible season this year. Last week, the team traveled to Dayton, Ohio for the WGI World Championships. They had an impressive showing with their electrifying show and were named semi-finalists of the competition.

“Our show is called ‘Ordinary People’ and it is about ordinary people doing extraordinary things,”says Morgan Pickett, a member of this year’s fall and winter guard. “If you look at the the floor that we use for our show, there’s pictures of…[women] that are looked up to, like Princess Diana, Ellen, Margaret Thatcher…what we’re trying to get across is that you can do whatever you want to do as long as you put your mind to it and that all these people that are known and looked up to started right where you are.”

Being a part of guard is a fun and rewarding experience. “My favorite part of being on colorguard is the camaraderie,” says Pickett. “The team becomes your family in so many ways. I wouldn’t trade them for the world…you always have twenty people that are there for you no matter what.”

Fall and winter color guard both have tryout weeks that are advertised around the school. Those interested in participating don’t need experience and Pickett encourages them to “just show up, you never know if you might have a knack for it!” Marching Band/Fall tryouts are of the week of April 23 after school in the cafeteria, and winterguard will hold tryouts next school year.

Congratulations to these remarkable performers on their achievements this year!
