Milton has been through a bit of an up and down season in coach Allen Whitehart’s first year at the helm, but this team is capable of making a deep run in the State Playoffs. A tough draw in the first round against a very skilled Mountain View squad hurts, but sophomore point guard Christian Wright (averaging 21 points per game) will be one of the best players in this tournament and can guide the Eagles to some upsets.
Combo guard Spencer Rodgers and shooting guard Nahiem Alleyne headline the Bears’ roster. Rodgers has already committed to play at Troy university next season and will be tough to defend in Milton’s opening round matchup.
Both teams are defensive-minded, as they allow under 60 points a game each, so expect a low scoring game that should come down to the fourth quarter. However, the Bears have been tested multiple times this season with 2 overtime games, and they’ll be the better team late in the game behind their backcourt duo of Alleyne and Rodgers.
Mountain View 64 | Milton 54
Round 2 Matchup:
With a win, Milton would take on the winner of Central Gwinnett (8-16) and Newton (24-3) in the first round.
