The English Speaking Union of the United States is hosting the 35th National Shakespeare Competition, an event that attracted more than 20,000 contestants across the country last year. Milton students interested in participating should report to Dr. Power’s room at 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 1 and present a Shakespearean monologue or sonnet in front of a panel of judges. The school winner will then compete at the Atlanta Shakespeare Playhouse on February 11. All teachers and students interested in the Atlanta Branch competition are welcome to attend and watch their students or classmates compete. The Atlanta Branch winner will proceed to New York City for the National Competition. Students must select their monologues and sonnets from the National Shakespeare Competition 2018 Monologue Selection Packet, available online. If you have any questions, see Dr. Power in Room 2202.
