The administration installed two rows of orange traffic blockers at one of the three exits in the red parking lot, effectively blocking traffic from entering or exiting. The administration moved multiple of the aforementioned blockers from the parking lot to form a barricade inside Milton, funneling late students from the atrium to the front office. Now, Officer Cash parks his police cruiser between what’s left of the two rows in the parking lot to maintain the barricade.

Milton’s student resource officer, Aaron Cash said “the orange cones were put in place to facilitate faster egress of traffic.” Ms. Tanya Neveloss, the secretary at the front office, expanded on the issue, claiming that the flow of traffic is hindered due to the three-way intersection because students are impatient to leave the parking lot. Furthermore, Neveloss stated that students that circumvent the traffic blockers by going over the grass will lose their parking permits.

“This was really random,” said Dru Milton, a senior. “We had no heads up or warning that this was happening.” Another senior, Caroline Franklin expressed annoyance, saying, “They blocked off the exit I’m right next to, so now I have to drive all the way around to exit the parking lot.”

However, Officier Cash (who can be found directing traffic in the mornings)  said traffic flow has improved since installing the barricade He also commented on the future of these practices, saying the barricades are “a temporary fix until a more long-term fix is installed.”
